Magee Rehabilitation opened in 1958 as the Philadelphia
region's original provider of physical and cognitive rehabilitation
and is the home to the nation's first brain injury rehabilitation
program to be accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation
of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). In addition, Magee is one of
16 federally designated Regional Spinal Cord Injury Centers.
Its staff and management are committed to restoring the highest
level of independence possible to individuals with disabilities.
The Magee care team consists of physicians, case managers, nurses,
occupational therapists, physical therapists, registered dietitians,
speech therapists, psychologists and vocational counselors. These
professionals work together with patients and families to: establish
rehabilitation goals, address cur-rent rehabilitation care needs,
and plan for lifetime continuing care options.
While inpatient services are delivered at Magee's 96-bed main facility,
located in Center City Philadelphia, Magee also has outpatient programs
in a variety of community settings including the home, workplace,
and at the Riverfront Outpatient Center located in South Philadelphia,
and Magee-MossRehab at Voorhees, located in Voorhees, New Jersey.
Magee provides lifetime rehabilitation and wellness programs for
persons with disabilities including: spinal cord injury, multiple
sclerosis, brain injury, stroke, cancer, orthopedic injury, pain
syndromes, arthritis, work-related injury, pulmonary disorders and
heart disease, among others.
